A number is increased by 30% and the resulting number is decreased by 50%. What percentage of
the original number is the final number?

Let the number be 100

Increase in no. = 20% = (20/100 × 100

= 20) = 100 + 20 = 120

Decrease in resulting no. = (10/100 × 120) = 12

Therefore, decreased no.= 120 - 12 = 108

Overall % change = 108 - 100 = 8 %

(I have done this in a little long way, you can also just do it in a short way)

Increase in no. = 100 + 20 = 120

Decrease in resulting no. = 120 - 12 = 108

Overall % change = 108 - 100 = 8 %
