A number is selected randomly between 1 and 100 . What is the probability of getting a number divisble by 8

archanaunni2003: Number of integer between 1 and 100 is 98 [ ∵ 2, 3 , 4 , .......99 lies between 1 and 100 ]
So, total number which are divisible by 8 = 12
Now, probability that it is divisible by 8 , P(E) = n(E)/n(S) = 12/98 = 6/49
P(divisible by 8) = 6/49
Probability that it is not divisible by 8 , P(E') = 1 - probability that is is divisible by 8,P(E)
Krishna2456: Sorry madam your answer is wrong see to total number of outcomes between any numbers there is a formula for example we need to find total number of outcomes between 11 and 123 so according to the formula 123 - 11 + 1 = 113
Krishna2456: Similarly for number between 1 and 100 = 100 - 1 + 1 = 100
Krishna2456: Formula = greater no -- smaller no + 1
archanaunni2003: Fine..
archanaunni2003: 12/100 = 3/25
P(divisible by 8) = 3/25
archanaunni2003: i think i didnt complete the answer..
archanaunni2003: and its correct!!

12/100 maybe the probability

Ash1997: 12/8 is 1.5 which is wrong
Ash1997: 12/100 = 3/25 is correct

Hey

Your ans

Total outcomes ===>> 100

Favorable outcomes ==>> 12

P ( getting a no.Divisible by 8 ) = 12 / 100

. = 3 / 25

I hope it will help you

Thanks
