Question:

A number is such that it is as much greater than 27 as it is less than 35 what is the number?

Answer:

The number is 31.

Given:

The number is as much greater than 27, is that much less than 35.

Or,

The difference between the number and 27 is equal to that of the distance between the number and 35.

To find:

The number.

Explanation:

Let, the number is greater than from 27 by, 'n'.

∴ The number is less than from 35 by, 'n'.

∴ According to the problem:

27+n = 35-n

⇒ 27-35 = -n-n

⇒ -8 = -2n

⇒ 2n = 8

⇒ n = (8/2)

⇒ n = 4.

Hence, the number is_

(27+4)

= 31

or,

(35-4)

= 31.

∴ The number is 31.

• A number is such that it is as much greater than 27 and as less than 35.

\bf{\underline{\underline{To\:Find:}}}

• The number

\bf{\underline{\underline{Solution:}}}

Let the number be x

Numbers are :

 \star \sf \: 27 + x

 \star \sf \: 35  - x

According to the Question :

 \sf \implies 27 + x = 35 - x

 \sf \implies 27  - 35 =  - x - x

 \sf \implies  -8 =  - \: 2x

 \sf \implies  2x = 8

 \sf \implies  x =  \cancel \dfrac{8}{2}

 \sf \implies  x =  \large \boxed{  \rm \: 4}

ReQuIrEd NuMbErs :

 \star \sf \: 27 + 4 =  \boxed{31}

 \star \sf \: 35  - 4 =  \boxed{31}
