SOLUTION :

Let one number be x

so, another number = 3x  (given)

To be found :

The two numbers

Now,

According to the question

Sum of the numbers is 20

So the equation will be

⇒ x + 3x = 20

⇒ 4x = 20

⇒ x = 20 ÷ 4

⇒ x = 5

∴ one number is x = 5

so, another number is 3x = 3 × 5 = 15

Hence,

Two numbers are 5 and 15
