Let the no. be x.

50-2x=40-x+2

50-40-2=-x +2x

8=x

8 is the first number

8×2=16 is the second number.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let m and n be the numbers

Then m=2n———(1)

50-m = (40-n)+2

50-m=42-n

50-2n=42-n

n=8

So m=2n=2x8=16

So the numbers are 8 and 16
