valence of the chlorine is 1 .
because it not loss 7 electron to get stability so it carry another ele from another atom ..

the atomic number of chlorine is 17in electroconfigration 2,8,7are there actually. no. of valenceshell electrons =valence of elements the which have more than 4electrons in valence shell. (8-no of electrons in valence shell) so
valence of chlorine is 8-7=1 it is in minus
because chlorine have 1electron to ocetet so it is minis
