Answer :-

The number is 33.

Solution :-

Let the number be x

Two third of a number = 2/3 * x = 2x/3

A number when added to its two third = 2x/3 + x

A number when added to its two third = 55

 \sf \dfrac{2x}{3} + x = 55

 \sf \dfrac{2x}{3} + \dfrac{x}{1} = 55

Taking LCM

 \sf \dfrac{2x}{3} + \dfrac{x(3)}{1(3)} = 55

 \sf \dfrac{2x}{3} + \dfrac{3x}{3} = 55

 \sf \dfrac{2x + 3x}{3}= 55

 \sf \dfrac{5x}{3}= 55

 \sf 5x= 55 \times 3

 \sf  x=  \dfrac{55 \times 3}{5}

 \sf x= 11 \times 3

 \sf x=33

Therefore the number is 33.

Verificication :-

 \sf \dfrac{2x}{3} + x = 55

Substitute x = 33 in the above equation

 \sf \dfrac{2(33)}{3} + 33 = 55

 \sf 2(11) + 33 = 55

 \sf 22 + 33 = 55

 \sf 55 = 55
