let the number be x

Therefore by the given condition ,

x + ⅔ × x = 55

x + 2x/3 = 55

3x + 2x / 3 = 55

5x / 3 = 55

5x = 55×3

5x = 165

x = 165/5

x = 33

Therefore the number is 33

Let the number be x

according to the question,

x +  (\frac{2}{3}  \times x) = 55

x +  \frac{2x}{3}  = 55

LCM = 3

 \frac{3x + 2x}{3}  = 55

 \frac{5x}{3}  = 55

5x =  55 \times 3

x =  \frac{55 \times 3}{5}

x = 33.

Verification:

Substituting x for 33,

33 +  \frac{2 \times 33}{3}  = 55

33 + 22 = 55

LHS = RHS = 55

Hence verified.

Hope it helps!

have a great day!
