A number when divided by d give remainder 23 and when by 12d give 104. What will be remainder when divide by 6d?

ANSWER

Given N = xd + 23 quotient is x when N is divided by D

So N = 12yD + 104 when N is divided by 12D quotient is y

Let y = 1

Then N = 12D + 104

xD + 23 = 12D + 104

D(x – 12) = 81

D = 81 /x – 12

Now least value of x will be 15.

D = 81 / 3

So D = 27

N = xD + 23

N = 15 x 27 + 23

N = 428

6D = 6 x 27 = 162

Now 428 / 162.

We get the remainder as 104
