We would be using the concept of Linear Equation in one Variable to solve this question:-

Let the number to be x.

So, when it is multiplied by 4 it exceeds itself by 45.

So, according to question:-

4x = x + 45

Transposing:-

3x = 45

x = \fraca{45}{3}

x = 15

So, the required number is 15.

Let's verify the answer:-

4 times of 15 is 60.

And 60 - 15 is 45.

So, our solution is correct !
