A number x is 4 less than three times another number y, If their sum is increased by 5, the result is 25. Find both the numbers.

Given, x + 4 = 3y
so, x - 3y = -4 .......................(1)
We are also given,
x + y = 20
so, multiplying the above eqn. by 3
3x + 3y = 60 .........................(2)
adding Eqn. 1 and 2
4x = 56 so, x = 14 and y = 6
