Let the mass of the oxide be x
by massing it contain 24% oxygen. The atomic mass of the oxygen is 16g.
(to take the minimum mass , assume that their is 1 oxygen atom in it.)
but actually it's not 16g not 24g.
so using unitary method,
if 24g of oxygen=100g of compound
16g of oxygen=x gram of oxide
solving for x:
x=100*16/24= 66.66
hence the mass of the oxide is 66.66
