Common difference of given A.P. is 4/3.

Given:

  • An A.P.
  •  \frac{1}{3},  \frac{5}{3},  \frac{9}{3},  \frac{13}{3},...  \\

To find:

  • Find the common difference of A.P.

Solution:

Concept to be used:

Common difference of A.P. is difference of two consecutive terms.

Step 1:

First term a =  \frac{1}{3}  \\

Second term =  \frac{5}{3}  \\

Third term= \frac{9}{3}  \\

Step 2:

Calculate common difference.

d= Second term-first term

d =  \frac{5}{3}  -  \frac{1}{3}  \\

or

d =  \frac{5 - 1}{3}  \\

or

\bf d =  \frac{4}{3}  \\

For confirmation,

d= Third term - second term

d =  \frac{9}{3}  -  \frac{5}{3}  \\

or

d =  \frac{9 - 5}{3}  \\

or

\bf d =  \frac{4}{3}  \\

Thus,

Common difference of A.P. is 4/3.
