A packet of rice was shared equally among 5 boys. When calculating each share, they made a mistake by dividing the mass of the rice by 6 instead of 5. Each boy received 0.083 kg of rice less than what they should receive. What should be the correct amount that each boy should receive ?

Answer:

Each boy should receive 0.498kg (or 498g) of rice. Please mark me as brainliest.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the correct amount that each boy should receive be x

Total rice = 5x (As there are 5 boys)

Wrong amount received because of dividing by 6 = x - 0.083 (Given)

6(x - 0.083) = 5x (As the wrong amount is total/6)

6x - 0.498 = 5x

6x - 5x = 0.498

x = 0.498

Answer:

each boy should get 498 grams

Step-by-step explanation:

so ,

the question says that each boy got 0.083 kgs less which is 83 grams

so, 5 x 83 = 415, 415 grams would be leftover from the packet.

now we know that the sixth person would get the remaining 415 grams ( but the sixth person dosen,t exist it is just error in calculation)

so it means that every boy out of that six would get 415 grams

so from this we can find the total mass of rice in the packet

= 415 x 6 = 2490 grams which is 2.49 kilograms

now to find what should every boy get we-

= 2.49/5 = 0.498 kgs or 498 grams

HOPE IT HELPS.
