Given :- A paint store sells two paint cans where the smaller is a perfect dilation of the larger, the large can is 7.5 inces tall and holds 128 ounces of paint if the smaller can has a hight of 4.5 inces how many ounces should it hold approximately ?
Solution :-
since the smaller is a perfect dilation of the larger ,
- Radius will be same .
so, we can conclude that,
→ 7.5 inches tall cans hold = 128 ounces .
then,
→ 1 inch tall cans hold = (128/7.5) ounces .
therefore,
→ 4.5 inches tall cans hold = (128/7.5) * 4.5 = (128/5) * 3 = (128 * 3)/5 = 384/5 = 76.8 ounces . (Ans.)
Hence, the smaller cans can hold 76.8 ounces of paint.
