A painting 28 cm long and 15cm wide painted on a cardboard such that there is a margin of 2 cm along of its sides . Find the total area of the margin​

Given :-

Total length of the painting including margin

= 28cm

Total Breath of the painting including margin

= 15 cm

Margin is extended each sides by 2cm

Solution :-

We know that the,

Area of Painting = Length *Breath

Here, Length = 28cm, Breath = 15cm

Now,

Area of painting including

margin = 28 * 15 = 420 cm^2

Now,

Length of the painting without margin

= 28 - ( 2 + 2)

= 28 - 4

= 24cm

Breath of the painting without margin

= 14 - ( 2 + 2 )

= 14 - 4

= 10 cm

Now,

Area of painting

= 24 * 10 = 240 cm^2

Now,

Area of margin = Area of painting including margin -Area of painting

Therefore,

Area of margin = 420 - 240

Area of margin = 180 m^2

Hence, The total area of margin

= 180 m^2 $.$
