===> 256 cm²

the length of painting be 40 cm and the breadth be 28cm

now ,

area of painting = l × b = 1120 cm²

now ,

subtracting , 4 from from length =36cm and from breadth = 24 cm

now area = 864cm²

now ,

area of margin = 1120 - 864 = 256 cm²
