width of the painting = 22 cm
area of the frame = L*B
area = 36*22 = 792
width of the frame = 1.5 cm
from both sides width of frame = 1.5 + 1.5 = 3 cm
to find the area of the photo = 36-3 = 33 and 22-3 = 19
area of the photo = 627
therefor the area = 729 - 627
