A pair of dice is thrown once, find the probabity of getting doublet, if sum 6 has already appeared?

Getting a doublet means getting same no. on both dice.

total outcomes when 2 dice are thrown are= 36

Total doublets=6 i.e (1,1) (2,2) (3,3) (4,4) (5,5) (6,6)

As the sum 6 has been appeared so we cancel the outcome (3,3)

Therefore we have now total 5 outcomes

⇒P(E) = 5\36
