A paper can't fold more than 7 fold ..why?

To fold it 7 times, you would need to fold it alternatingly in both directions. And if you folded first 5 times in one direction, then 3 times in the other direction, the sheet can be folded 8 times.

actually a paper can be folded upto 10 to 12 times . check it on google that a secondary school american boy had folded a paper 12 times and holded the world record.
