A paper is in the form of a rectangle ABCD in which AB=20cm and bc =14cm. A semi circular portion with BC as diameter is cut off. Find the area of the remaining part. 

Answer 1

Area of rec.=l*b=20*14=280
Area of semicircle=1/2*22/7*7*7=77
area of remaining part=280-77=203cm square

Answer 2

diameter = Bc = 14cm
radius=7cm
area of circle = 7*7*22/7  = 154cm sq
arae of semicircle = 154cm/2 = 77cm sq
area of sheet = 20*14 = 280cm sq
area of remaining sheet = 280-77 = 203cm sq.
