Given:

Paperclip is made of 9.8 cm.

To find:

How many paperclips can be made with 1 metre.

Solution:

Convert metre into centimetre.

1 metre = 100 centimetre

Divide 100 by 9.8 to get number of clips.

$\text{Number of clips}=\frac{100}{9.8}

To make the denominator whole multiply and divide by 10.

                        $=\frac{100}{9.8}\times \frac{10}{10}

                        $=\frac{1000}{98}

                        = 10.20

Therefore 10 paperclips can be made.
