Answer: the other answer on this comment's wrong(vashitas comment) , there IS gravity on the moon, in fact anything that's anything creates gravity. even a paper clip. just not a lot... gravity is based on the size and mass of an object.

Explanation: parachutes are actually usless on the moon because there's no atmosphere. gravity has nothing to do with it. parachutes on celestial bodies like mars and the earth are good places to use parachutes becuase they do have atmopheres. atmospheres can be formed when gases get trapped near a planets surface or are formed by organic/non living things.
