India made its Test debut in 1976,[10] against the West Indies, and its One Day International (ODI) debut at the 1978 World Cup, which it hosted. The team has made the World Cup final on two occasions, losing to Australia by 98 runs in 2005, and losing to England by 9 runs in 2017. India has made the semi-finals on three other occasions, in 1997, 2000, and 2009. India has also made to the semi-finals of the World Twenty20 on three occasions in 2009, 2010,and 2018. Recently, the team made the finals of World Twenty20 for the first time, losing to Australia by 85 runs in 2020.[11]

The first Indian’s Women’s National Cricket Team was formed under the Women’s association in 1973.
1976 was the first time that the Indian Women’s National Cricket Team played their first game against West Indies.
More than 30 years after its formation, in 2006, the Women’s National Cricket Team joined the Board Control for Cricket in India or more popularly known as BCCI.
Women’s National Cricket Team wears the same colour jersey’s as the Men’s team- blue.
The number of active players in the Women’s National Cricket Team is 13 presently.
Unlike the Men’s side, the Indian Women’s National Cricket Team has not won any cup yet.
Even though it hasn’t won any container, the Women’s Team has entered the finals.
The Indian Women’s National Cricket Team is the first Asian team to reach the finals in the World Cup.
In the T20 cricket tournaments, the Indian Women’s team reached the semi-finals three times.
Mithali Raj is the current captain of the Indian Women’s team, and till date has scored more than six thousand runs while playing One Day, Internationals matches.
