Ruskin Bond (born 19 May 1934) is an Indian author of British descent. He lives with his adopted family in Landour, Mussoorie, India. The Indian Council for Child Education has recognised his role in the growth of children's literature in India. He was awarded the Sahitya Academy Award in 1992 for Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra, his novel in English. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1999 and the Padma Bhushan in 2014.[1]

Ruskin Bond is an Indian writer with British descent. On 19th May,1934 he was born at Kasouli in British India. His father was Aubery Alexender Bond and his mother was Edith clarke. Her father taught English to the princesses of Jamnagar place. Bond took his early education from Bishop cotton school in in Shimla. He started writing from childhood. His first story was published when he was only sixteen. Ruskin Bond was awarded with many prestigious awards like Sahitya Academy, Padmashri,Padma Bhushan etc. The name of Ruskin bond's autobiography is "lone fox dancing". This man is a lover of nature of Himalayan foothills. Now he lives at Londour near the Mussiorie.
