Emperor Akbar was disturbed by the rising fame of the Mayor and wanted to move him out of the city. He told his opinion to Birbal. Birbal devised a plan to solve the problem of Akbar. He made the royal astrologer predict that the laughter in the royal court would lead to Mayor's downfall. Mayor became conscious about laughter after listening to this prediction. Now, Birbal asked some children to hide inside the hollow space of a banyan tree near the court. The children were asked to laugh loudly. This invisible laughter made everyone else laugh in the royal court. Mayor gets frightened and takes it to be a symbol of his impending downfall. Fearing his loss of fame, he runs away from the city thereby, solving the problem of the Emperor without much effort.
