Solution:

The equivalent internal resistance of cells which are connected in parallel.

1/R = 1/r1+ 1/r2+ 1/r3

1/R = 1/4 +1/4 + 1/2

1/R = 1/2+ 1/2 = 1

R = 1/1

R = 1 ohm

The value of resistance of the external load is 1 ohm.
