The area of the plates =  1.1 × 10^{8}

Given:

A parallel plate capacitor has capacitance of 1.0 F.

The plates are 1.0 mm apart = 1×10^-^3 meter.

To find:

The area of the plates.

Formula used:

C = \mathcal{E}_{\mathrm{o}} \frac{A}{D}

where,  \mathcal{E}_{\mathrm{o}} =  Absolute permittivity of the dielectric material = 8.86 × 10^-^1^2

            A= Area of plates.

            D = Distance between plate.

Explanation:

Given that     C = 1.0 F

                      D= 1×10^-^3 meter.

                       \mathcal{E}_{\mathrm{o}} = 8.86 × 10^-^1^2

             C = \mathcal{E}_{\mathrm{o}} \frac{A}{D}

          A = \frac{C\times D}{\mathcal{E}_{\mathrm{o}}} = \frac{1(10^-^3)}{8.86\times 10^-^1^2} = 1.1 × 10^{8}

The area of the plates =  1.1 × 10^{8}
