Given ,

C= capacitance for parallel plate capacitor

d= separation between the plates

V= Potential diff. between the pates

We know, C= ε₀A/d------- (1)

   If q be the charge stored in the plates,

 C= q/V

  The  force with which the plates attracts each other F =q.t

    or F= q. (q/2ε₀A)

           = q²/2ε₀A

  But we know, q=Cv

        So, F= C²v²/2ε₀A -------(2)

Frrom equation (1) we can replace ε₀A by Cd

Therefore (2)=> F =Cv²/2Cd
