a parallelogram PQRS, diagonals PR and SQ intersect at O. If SQ = 5 PR and = OP = 4.5 cm, find OS.

Given:

If SQ = 5 PR and = OP = 4.5 cm

To find:

The length of the OS.

Solution:

As we know that the diagonal of the parallelogram bisect each other at their intersection point.

So for the Diagonal PR

  • PO = OR

And for the Diagonal SQ

  • SO = OQ

We have given the side OP as 4.5 cm so the length of the Diagonal PR will

  • 2×4.5 = 9cm

As we have:

  • SQ = 5PR
  • SQ = 5×9  
  • SQ = 45cm

So the length of OS is SR/2

  • OS = 45/2
  • OS = 22.5

The  length of the OS is 22.5 cm
