A parent of one of the three-year-olds in your classroom comes to you and confides that she and her husband are going to file for divorce. She’s already concerned about some of the angry behaviors the child has shown since his father has moved out of the home. What is some of the information that you could share with this mother to help her understand her child’s reaction, and to know how best to help him at this time? What resources can you help her become aware of? What will you do in the classroom to support this child? How will you support the parents? help please anyone ? due @3

Answer:

You tell the mother to support the child and don't make them feel like their the reason that the parents are separating. Resources that may be helpful is therapy or talking so someone close or who has been in the situation. Ask the kid if he/she needs help with anything or wants to talk. you would support the parent by comforting them and not making them feel like the fault of their child acting out
