1) Sarajevo Crisis
Archduke Francis Ferdinand, The heir to the throne of Austria - Hungary was assassinated at Sarajevo on June 28, 1949, by a secret society called 'Black Hand' or 'Union of Death' whose aim was to unite all Serbians into a single Serbian State.
2) Terms of Treaty of Versailles :
- The treaty was declared by Germany guilty of aggression.
- German was required to pay for the lose and damages suffered by the Allies during the war. The amount of reparation was fixed 33 billion dollars.
- Germany ceded parts of her Pre - War territory to Denmark, Belgium, Poland, Czechoslovakia and France.
3) Adolf Hitler, an Australian by birth, had fought in German army during the First World War and had attained the rank of Corporal. In 1919, he joined a small party group called " The German Workers Party ".
On September 3, Britain and France declared war on Germany. Thus the Hitler's invasion of Poland marked the beginning of the Second World War.
