The total length to be paved by stones is 62 m

Step-by-step explanation:

A park 20 m long and 15 m broad has 2 m wide roads  crossing each other as shown in attachment.

The sides of the roads  which have been covered with stones are shown by dotted  lines.

The total length to be paved by stones is sum of outer length of path.

Horizontal = 20 - 2

It is parallel to both sides.

Total Length of horizontal = 2(20-2) = 36 m

Vertical = 15 - 2

It is parallel to both sides.

Total Length of horizontal = 2(15-2) = 26 m

Total length to be paved by stones = 36 + 26

                                                           = 62 m
