A park has a radius of 10 m. If a vehicle goes round it at an average speed of 18 km/hr, If the road of the problem is horizontal (No Banking), what should be the minimum friction coefficient so that a scooter going at 18 km /hr does not skid?

If there will be no banking then the Friction will balance the vehicle by providing the centripetal force.

Thus, Friction must be greater than equal to the Centripetal Force.

∴ f ≥ mv²/r

⇒ μmg ≥ mv²/r

⇒ v² ≤ μrg

∴  μ ≥ v²/rg

This means that the Minimum friction coefficient will be  μ ≥ v²/rg so that Scooter will not skid.

Hope it helps.
