a park is rectangular in shape with dimensions 50m and 30m. Two roads of width 2m each and parallel to the sides of the park are made in the centre of the park

area of park = 50 * 30
                    = 1500
road 1 = 2 * 50
           = 100
road 2 = 2 * 30
           = 60
overlapping road = 2*2
                            = 4
area covered by road = 100+60-4
                                   = 160-4
                                   = 156m ^(2)
area of the remaining part = 1500 - 156
                                          = 1344
