Given,

The shape of the park is in the form of a rectangle.

The length of the park= 24m

The width of the park= 18m

The distance that separates two trees= 2m

To Find,

The total number of trees needed to plant along the perimeter of the park.

Solution,

The perimeter of the park = 2(l+b)

where l is the length and,

           b is the breadth.

On substitution,

Perimeter = 2(24+18)

2(42)

⇒ 84

Thus, the total perimeter of the park is 84m.

Trees are planted at a distance of 2m apart from each other.

∴The number of trees needed to cover 84 m = \frac{84}{2}

42.

Henceforth, the total number of trees needed to cover the perimeter of the park is 42.
