A parking lot can accommodate 300 cars. If 1/6 of the parking spaces are filled, how many cars are parked at that time?

We can find the answer to this question and questions similar to this by doing this. We have to MULTIPLY. So in this situation we should do this - (1/6) * 300.

1 300

--- * ------

6 1

Remember 300 can also be written as 300/1

1 50

--- * ------

1 1

We did 300 / 6 , that is simplified it(cross-multiplication).

50 * 1 is 50. 1 * 1 is 1. So the answer is 50 / 1

Remember any number divided by 1 is the number itself. So the answer is 50.
