Fixed charges are Rs. 1000 and the cost of food per day is Rs. 100.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the fixed charges = y (in rupees) and the cost of food per day = x (in rupees).

Now, Swati takes food for 20 days and pays Rs. 3000.

That is, 20x+y=3000 .................(1)

Also, Mansi takes food for 25 days and pays Rs. 3500.

That is, 25x+y=3500 ..................(2)

Subtracting (1) from (2), we get,

5x=500

i.e. x=100

Substitute x=100 in (1), we get,

20× 100+y=3000

i.e. 2000+y=3000

i.e. y=1000

Hence, the fixed charges are Rs. 1000 and the cost of food per day is Rs. 100.
