a part of monthly hostel charges in a college or fix and the remaining depend on the number of days one has taken found in the mess. when a student takes on for 20 days ,he has to pay rupees 1000 as Hostal charges, where is a student be who takes found for 26 days,paysrupees 11801 hostel charges .find the fixed charge and the cost of food per day /please solve properly its urgent.

let the hostel charges be given as
a+bx
where a represents the fixed part and bx the variable one where x represents days
now 1000=a+20b
1180=a+26b
solving both we get b=30 a=400
fix charge is 400 and 30 is cost per day

Answer 2

let the fixed price for hostle is 'x'
and charge for one day of mess is 'y'
therefore total charge of hostle
=x+20y=1000----------i
similarly for other student

=x+26y=1180-------ii


on subtracting equation ii from I equations......
