v = u + at

At rest, u = 0

v = at = 6 x 8 = 48

At stage 2, "V" from stage 1 becomes initial velocity "U" of stage 2

At rest v = 0

v = u + at

u = dt, deceleration is negative acceleration (d = -a)

d = u/t = 48/5 = 9.6 ms

Correct option is A
