A particle accelerates uniformly from
rest at 6ms-1 for 8s and then decelerates
uniformly to rest in the next 5s.
Determine the speed
A. 9.6 ms-1

v = u + at
At rest, u = 0
v = at = 6 x 8 = 48
At stage 2, "V" from stage 1 becomes initial velocity "U" of stage 2
At rest v = 0
v = u + at
u = dt, deceleration is negative acceleration (d = -a)
d = u/t = 48/5 = 9.6 ms
Correct option is A
