Answer:

(D) S2 = 3S1

Explanation:

Given that,

A particle after starting from rest

here,

initial velocity of the particle = 0 m/s

also,

given that,

It experiences constant acceleration for 20 seconds

here,

time for constant acceleration of the particle = 20 seconds

now,

given that,

it covers a distance of S1 in first 10 seconds and distance S2 in next 10 second

now,

we have,

for S1

initial velocity = 0 m/s

time to cover S1 = 10 seconds

by the equation of motion,

S = ut + ½at²

putting the values,

S1 = 0(10) + ½ × a × 10 × 10

S1 = 50a

now,

let the total distance travelled be S0

given total time taken = 20 seconds

so,

S0 = 0(20) + ½ × a × 20 × 20

S0 = 200a

now,

S2 = S0 - S1

because,

S0 is the total distance

that is including S1 and S2

so,

S2 = 200a - 50a

S2 = 150a

now,

we have,

S1 = 50a

S2 = 150a

so,

S1/S2 = 50a/150a

S1/S2 = 1/3

by cross multiplication,

3S1 = S2

= S2 = 3S1

so,

CORRECT OPTION:

(D) S2 = 3S1
