A particle executes S.H.M. of time period 8 s and amplitude 4 cm. Find the speed of a particle 2 s after it

passes through mean position

Its an little logical question. Answer will be zero in this case.

Let us discuss it.

Time Period of this S.H.M. is 8 seconds. This means it starts from mean position and after going to each position , and it returns to its mean position in 8 seconds.

Thus time taken to go from mean position to one extreme is 8/4 = 2 seconds.

This means, it will be at extreme position when t = 2 seconds after it starts from mean position.

Now, A = x

Using the formula,

v² = ω²(A² - x²)

∴ v² = ω²(A² - A²)

∴ v² = 0

Thus, v = 0.

Thus, speed of the Particle will be zero 2 seconds after it motion starts.
