The height of the tower is 44.1 m/s.

Given,

the fraction of tower it covers in its last-second: 5/9th

time taken = 3 s

To Find,

The height of the tower

Solution,

We have been given a situation of free fall of a particle from the top of a tower.

Therefore, the initial velocity of the particle, u = 0 m/s

Given that the time taken = 3 s

We have to find the height of the tower.

Let the time taken by the tower to fall down be t

Then, s = ut + 1/2 at²

⇒ h = 1/2 at²

Here, a is the acceleration due to gravity, g = 9.8 m/s

⇒ h = 1/2 gt²

⇒ h = 1/2 × 9.8 × ²

⇒ h = 4.9 × 9

⇒ h = 44.1 m/s
