A particle is accelerated from 1 m.s -1 to 5 m.s -1 over a distance of 15 m. Find the acceleration and the time taken.

Given:-

Initial velocity (u) = 1m/s

Final velocity (v) = 5m/s

Distance (S) = 15m

To find:-

(i) Accleration

By applying, v^2-u^2 = 2as

25-1 = 2×a×15

24 = 30a

a = 24/30

= 0.8m/s^2

(ii) Time

By applying, v - u = at

5 - 1 = 0.8×t

4 = 0.8t

t = 4/0.8

= 5sec.
