A particle is being acted upon by one dimensional conservative force. In F - x curve shown, four points A, B, C, D are
marked on the curve. For these points 1 F
D
B
C
A
(A) A and D are equilibrium points
(B) B and C are equilibrium points
(C) A is stable and D is unstable equilibrium point

Given:

A particle is being acted upon by 1D conservative force. In F - x curve shown, four points A, B, C, D are marked on the curve.

To find:

Correct statement from the options

Calculation:

From the graph , we can see that ;

At Points B,C,D , the cause is intersecting the x-axis such that the value of force at those point is zero.

Hence , at Points B, C and D are equilibrium points.

According to the graph , point a A has negative value of force and hence is not an equilibrium point

So, correct statement:

B) B and C are equilibrium points.
