The motion of particle will be a straight line towards centre of earth. This is due to force attraction called gravitational force. The particle will accelerate downwards with acceleration of 9.8m/s². The particle experience this acceleration due to gravity. Every object having mass has gravity.

  • Formula for gravitational force=  \frac{GM_1 M_2}{R^{2}}
  • here G= gravitational constant with value=6.67 \times 10^{-11}
  • M1 and M2 are masses of the objects between which force is acting
  • R is the distance between them from there center of mass
