Given :

Radius of the circular path = 5m

Speed of the particle = 5/2 m/s

To Find :

The average of particle acceleration over a quarter circle

Solution :

  • Change in velocity = (5i -(-5j) ) /2

                               = ( 5i + 5j ) /2

  • Magnitude of change in velocity = 5/√2
  • Time taken for quarter revolution = πr / 2v

                     = π×5 / 2×5/2

                     =π sec

  • Average acceleration = Δv / t

                     = 5/√2 / π

                     = 5 / π√2 m/s²

The average acceleration of particle over a quarter circle is 5 / π√2 m/s²
