Solution :

Given:

✏ Diameter of circle = 20m

✏ No.of rounds completed by particle = 2

To Find:

✏ Distance and displacement after 2 rounds.

Concept:

✏ Distance is defined as total length of path covered by moving particle.

✏ Displacement is defined as the shortest distance between the intial and final point.

Conversation:

✏ Radius of circular path = 20/2 = 10m

Calculation:

  • Distance

 \implies \sf \: \red{distance = 2 \times 2\pi{r}} \\ \\ \implies \sf \: distance = 4 \times 3.14 \times 10 \\ \\ \implies \: \boxed{ \bold{ \sf{ \blue{distance = 125.6 \: m}}}} \: \bigstar

  • Displacement

 \implies \sf \: \green{\triangle{position} = 0} \\ \\ \implies \: \boxed{ \bold{ \sf{ \orange{displacement = 0 \: m}}}} \: \bigstar

Additional information:

  • Distance is scalar quantity.
  • Distance has always positive magnitude.
  • Displacement is vector quantity.
  • Displacement can be positive, negative and zero.
