A particle is moving in a circle of diameter 7m .Calculate the distance covered and the displacement when it completes 3 half revolutions

Distance is the actual path covered by a body. And it cannot be zero and is a scalar quantity.

And, displacement is the shortest distance covered by a body in a particular direction and so is a vector quantity. Displacement can be zero.

Given diameter of circle = 7m

Radius of the circle =7/2m

Distance covered = circumference of the circle

= 2¶r

= 2×22/7×7/2m

= 22 m

Thus, Distance covered in 1 revolution=22m

Distance covered in 3 revolution = 22×3m

= 66 m

Displacement of the circle = Diameter of circle = 7m

After 3 revolutions also the displacement will not change.
