Since here Velocity is the matter of concern,
It is necessary that the body should move in a straight line or 1D(keeping in mind that the magnitude of velocity is also constant).
If the magnitude is constant but direction changes then velocity cannot be uniform.
And hence it cannot move in 2D such as a circle.
